Tools and Technologies
You can use any tools you like. Here are some beginner-friendly options to get started:
Web Development:
- Replit - Code in your browser, no setup needed
- Glitch - Build and deploy web apps quickly
- GitHub - Host your code and collaborate with your team
No-Code / Low-Code:
- Figma - Design interfaces and prototypes
- Bubble - Build web apps without code
- Canva - Create presentations and graphics
AI and APIs:
- OpenAI API - Add AI to your project
- Google AI Studio - Build with Gemini
- Anthropic API - Build with Claude
Inspiration
Not sure what to build? Here are some ideas to get you thinking:
- A website for a local Marshall business that doesn't have one yet
- A tool that helps SMSU students find campus events or study groups
- An AI chatbot that answers questions about Marshall or Southwest Minnesota
- A budgeting app designed for college students
- An automation tool that saves a local nonprofit time on repetitive tasks
